ELMIRA TOWNSHIP

JUNE 12, 2014
A regular meeting of the Elmira Township board was held on June 12, 2014 at the Elmira Township hall commencing at 6:00 p.m. with Supervisor, Diane Franckowiak calling the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Members present were Supervisor, Diane Franckowiak, Clerk, Susan Schaedig, Treasurer, Diane Purgiel, Trustees, Dale Holzschu and Leonard Skop.
Ordinance Officer, Ron Geiger and resident, Dave Johannigsmeier were also in attendance.
ORDINANCE OFFICER REPORT:
Ron reported that the Delaney property has been completely cleared.
Ron has spoken to the owner and tenant of the Trunk Lane complaint. The attorney has advised that both owner and tenant can be cited for the 7 vehicles and tall grass on the property. Some of the vehicles have junk in them.
There is also a complaint on Theisen Road.
PLANNING COMMISSION REPORT:
Dale gave an update of the Park project. He stated that it is almost completed.
The Puroll family and friends, Elmira Planning Commission members, Elmira-Warner Fire Authority, the manager of Home Depot and their team all helped work on the play structure, spreading of the wood chips and building of a sand pile.
Betty Moore of Jets Pizza donated pizzas at cost and Tim of Woder Construction donated the use of his heavy equipment and tools.
The Elmira Township Board deeply appreciates all the time, effort and equipment donated by the community to make the project a complete success.
Dale will contact Tim Woder of Woder Construction and Jim Theisen to offer reimbursement for fuel for the Park project.
The Planning Commission will need to address the removal of the bell from the Gaylord Community School property to the township park site and the renovation of it.
FIRE BOARD AUTHORITY:
Diane F stated that Holly Franckowiak requested to leave the Fire-Authority.
Diane P made a motion to appoint Dave Johannigsmeier to the Elmira-Warner Fire Authority. Seconded by Sue and carried unanimously.

Leonard made a motion to pay the bills. Seconded by Dale and carried unanimously.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Diane P stated that she is working with a new person at First Merit Bank in order to get $230.00 of charges reversed.
She contacted the library and they have provided a link to our current website from our old library site.

Leonard made a motion to pay for registration, motel, meals, mileage and wages for Diane P and Sue to attend the two day Quick Books classes in Grand Rapids on June 25th and 26th 2014. Seconded by Dale and carried unanimously.
Diane P reported that the Township will be undergoing an audit of the township books with Dan Smith, CPA.
Diane P made a motion to sign the agreement with Gaylord Community Schools to collect the 2014 Summer School taxes at 2.50 per parcel. Seconded by Sue and carried unanimously.
Diane P stated that she will redo the Investment Policy. She is checking on the ICS account at First Federal and possibly reinvesting at other institutions.
NEW BUSINESS:
Diane F is working on updating the policy on the public inspection of public records.
Diane F stated that Warner would like to repair the head stones in Maple Hill Cemetery. The board directed her to invite a representative from their board and bring an estimate of the costs.
There being no further business to come before the board, Diane P made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by Leonard and carried unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m..
