OCTOBER 10, 2013



            A regular meeting of the Elmira Township board was held on October 10, 2013 at the Elmira Township hall commencing at 6:00 p.m. with Supervisor, Diane Franckowiak calling the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.


            Members present were Supervisor, Diane Franckowiak, Clerk, Susan Schaedig and Trustees, Leonard Skop and Dale Holzschu.  Treasurer, Diane Purgiel was excused.


            Others in attendance were Dave Johannigsmeir, Tony Cutler and Frank Jasinski.


            Leonard made a motion to accept the minutes as presented.  Seconded by Dale and carried.


            Tony Cutler introduced himself to the board and stated that he will be running for State Representative in 2014.



            Dale stated that there will be a work bee at 9:00 a.m. at the township park to take the top of the wooden structure down.  Duane is working on the MTPP Risk Reduction Grant given by Par Plan.


            A public hearing on the proposed Update to the Elmira Township Master Plan will be held on October 28, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.. 



            Diane F reported that the recycle bins are being well used.  Another bin had to be added at the city site.  Hayes Township is the next well used site.

            Leonard made a motion to pay the bills.  Seconded by Dale and carried.

            Diane F reported that the township did not receive any grant money for the Mt Jack Road Project for this year but should be available in 2014.  The Road Commission still has to obtain the right of ways from Ed Estelle and the Metzgers.


            Sue reported that an ad was placed in the Gaylord Herald Times on October 8, 2013 and October 12, 2013 for bids on the removal of trees at the township park.  November 4, 2013 is the deadline for receiving the bids.



            Diane F made a motion to appoint Jay Maufort to the Elmira Township Plannning Commission.  He will replace John Middleton.  Seconded by Dale and carried.


            Sue made a motion to allow any board member to attend the 2014 MTA Conference in Traverse City.  Registration, mileage, motel and meals to be reimbursed by Elmira Township.  Seconded by Dale and carried.


            The next Township Association meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the City.


            Frank Jasinski, representing St Marys place a request for the chain link in the township park when and if the board decides to take it down. 


            The board told him that it was decided to leave it there at this time.  (989)732-4377.


            There being no further business to come before the board, Leonard made a motion to adjourn.  Seconded by Dale and carried.  Meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m..
